Nexus Engineering Group is hiring a full-time Designer in Oak Brook, IL to deliver AutoCAD Electrical design for utility projects while conforming to codes and standards. You will produce Substation Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Power Distribution, One-Line Diagrams, Schematics, Interconnection diagrams, Lighting plans, Grounding, Power, Heat Tracing, Conduit/Cable Schedules, and other Electrical Details, with site visits involving walking, standing, climbing ladders and lifting. Requirements include an Associate Degree or technical equivalent, 3-5 years substation design/drafting, proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, knowledge of field investigations and utility standards, MS Office, strong attention to detail, independence, and travel. The Designer is responsible for design and drafting services that meet the utility client’s requirements and expectations while conforming to appropriate Codes and Standards for the associated project. Detailed designs and drawings include:
· Substation Layouts· Wiring Diagrams· Power & Electrical Distribution· Electrical One-Line Diagrams· Schematics· Interconnection diagrams· Plans-Lighting, Grounding, Power, Heat Tracing, etc.· Conduit/Cable Schedules· Electrical Details
The Designer should be aware that the design process includes visiting clients’ facilities and performing physical work such as walking, standing, climbing ladders and lifting.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, required
  • 3-5 years of substation electrical design/drafting experience & skilled in standard drafting practices
  • Knowledge of or proficient in field investigations and measurements
  • Familiarity with utility and client-specific standards
  • Working knowledge of or familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong attention to detail and performing self-checking of work
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to travel to client sites as needed
