Job Description The Band 2 – Desktop Technician will provide day-to-day local and remote desktop support, receive inbound calls, answer questions, troubleshoot, and document steps performed to resolve hardware, software, and application issues in a ticketing system. The candidate will facilitate customer resolution for calls and engage supervisors and managers to ensure operational consistency across all shifts within the IT Support Center. The role includes Break/Fix support, fault diagnosis, and resolution across core operating systems and approved applications.
Position Responsibilities and Functions • Provide first/second level contact and problem resolution for customer issues. • Collaborate with third-party vendors to remediate complex AV issues. • Communicate issue status and resolution updates promptly. • Maintain ticket updates for all reported incidents. • Install, upgrade, support, and troubleshoot Windows XP, 7, 8.1, 10, Microsoft Office, Cisco Jabber, and other authorized desktop applications. • Provide basic support for Mac OS users. • Install, upgrade, support, and troubleshoot printers and computer hardware. • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on desktops, laptops, and printers. • Conduct remedial repairs on desktops, laptops, printers, and authorized peripherals. • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot network connectivity and workstation hardware/software issues. • Apply broad IT knowledge, including networks, servers, audio/visual systems, smart devices, and telecoms. • Work flexibly in project-based environments requiring teamwork. • Mentor Band 1 technicians and support Band 3 engineers in ticket resolution.
