Paris, FR

Riot, a product-first team on a mission to grow cybersecurity culture, is looking for a DevOps-focused engineer to join its Paris team. The company built a platform that delivers chat-based, four-minute courses to departments and then tests awareness with simulated phishing attacks, all in a safe environment. Since its 2020 origins, Riot has raised 45 million dollars from notable investors and now protects more than 2,000,000 employees across more than 2,000 companies, including Intercom, Deel and Deezer.

In this Platform squad role, you’ll help build, scale and secure the infrastructure that powers Riot’s products, so every other team can move fast without compromising safety. Engineers here are expected to have a say in product and architecture decisions, so your input will directly shape the technical road ahead. If you enjoy hands-on work, like shaping platform choices, and want to help push a mission-driven product, this could be a great fit.

Riot’s cybersecurity mission is timely and clear: many organisations struggle with security culture, and employees often become the weak link. You’ll be joining a team that believes in practical, effective measures to improve how companies educate and protect themselves, around the world.

Keeping Riot’s platform resilient and thoughtful

As part of the Platform squad, you’ll push the infrastructure to a fully Terraform-managed state, with clean structure and reproducibility front and center. You’ll lead discussions on whether the team should keep using ECS Fargate or move toward Kubernetes, weighing the pros and cons and guiding a future decision. Strengthening security is a core focus, with initiatives to harden the stack and improve secret management and compliance groundwork, including ISO 27001 work in progress. A long-term goal is to enable fully independent infrastructure on demand to support Riot’s expansion into the US market, while also improving developer experience through better CI, faster deployments, and smoother onboarding and offboarding processes. FinOps will be on your radar too, balancing cloud costs with reliability and quality of service.

The tech stack today centers on AWS with ECS Fargate as the current deployment model and a possible migration to Kubernetes. The data layer uses Aurora PostgreSQL, while Datadog handles monitoring. GitHub Actions powers CI, and Terraform paired with Atlantis drives infrastructure as code. There are two monolith backends, one built in Elixir and a newer one in Node.js/TypeScript/NestJS that is slated to sunset within about a year. Riot is still iterating on infra choices, and the new hire will be a key voice in those discussions, helping to select technologies that best serve the business needs.

What you’ll bring to Riot

You're somebody who gets things done and fits Riot’s practical culture. You should have at least four years of hands-on work in DevOps, Platform or SRE roles, with a strong AWS background and real experience using Terraform at scale. You’re comfortable making pragmatic tool choices and deploying user-facing infrastructure with zero downtime. Autonomy and initiative matter here, as does your ability to own complex topics and push them to completion. Security-minded thinking, covering hardening, secret management and compliance, will be a natural part of your daily work, even if you’re not a dedicated security engineer. And while cybersecurity isn’t your sole focus, you’re motivated by Riot’s mission and ready to contribute to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 efforts. Location-wise, you’re based in Paris or willing to relocate to join the team onsite.

Where and how you’ll work

The role is full-time and onsite in Paris, FR, aligning with Riot’s preference for close collaboration and rapid iteration with the Platform squad.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with your 4+ years in DevOps or SRE, and call out a concrete Terraform project you’ve driven at scale to show you can handle infrastructure as code end-to-end.

Highlight a real example where you operated user-facing infrastructure with zero-downtime deployments and describe how you chose the right tool for the job rather than following a trend.

Share a story about security hardening and secret management, and mention any involvement you’ve had with ISO 27001 or SOC 2 efforts to show you understand the compliance side.

Prepare for the interview format Riot describes: an onsite case study and an experience deep-dive with the team, followed by a fit interview with the CTO/CEO. If you’re considering relocation, be ready to discuss your plan to live in Paris or your timeline for moving, and think of a thoughtful question to ask about the ECS vs Kubernetes decision or the US expansion plan.
