Join KPN’s Roaming team in Rotterdam as a full‑time onsite DevOps engineer and help secure and optimize roaming services as 5G/6G, AI and automation reshape the space. In a nine‑person agile crew you’ll monitor and analyze roaming traffic, configure systems, and partner with international operators to drive improvements in processes and tooling while owning your work. Key requirements are strong optimization, clear international communication, resilience under pressure, and proactive ownership with smart escalation. Fluency in English is required, Dutch is a plus. The Roaming Team consists of nine dedicated professionals and operates according to agile principles, utilizing both SCRUM and Kanban within a highly professional organizational environment.

Job Description

As a DevOps engineer within the Roaming team, you will work together with KPN colleagues and international operators to ensure the quality and safety of roaming services. In the next 5 years, the requirements will shift significantly due to technological trends such as 5G/6G, AI, automation, IoT and stricter security requirements. You are responsible for monitoring, configuring and analyzing roaming traffic and you are involved in maintaining contacts with foreign operators. You combine technical knowledge with strong communication skills and take ownership of your work. In addition, you have an affinity with automation, AI and improving business processes.

Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and analyzing roaming, IN and OUT bound traffic.
• Collaborate with international operators and internal teams.
• Escalating issues in a clear and solution-oriented way.
• Thinking along about improvements in processes, automation and tooling.
• Reporting findings and trends to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Strong communication skills: You can communicate clearly professionally, even in an international context.

Stress-resistant: You remain effective under work pressure and in the event of urgent incidents.

Ownership: You take responsibility and act proactively.

Escalate without questions: You dare to make decisions and identify problems in time.

Team player: Contributes to a positive team dynamic and good cooperation with foreign operators.

Communication: Fluent English (oral and written), Dutch or additional languages are a plus.

Technical skills: Knowledge of mobile (core) network. HLR/HSS, SS7 (2G/3G) / Diameter protocols. Strong analytical skills. Affinity with automation, AI applications and setting up/improving business processes.
