Your Luxury Purpose

The Director of Revenue at Sofitel Queenstown is a pivotal leadership role responsible for developing and executing revenue strategies that maximise market share, average daily rate (ADR), and total revenue for the hotel. This strategic position will drive profitability through expert analysis of market trends, pricing, inventory management, and distribution channels, ensuring optimal financial performance and alignment with the hotel's luxury brand standards and strategic repositioning objectives. The Director of Revenue will champion a data-driven approach, collaborating closely with sales, marketing, and operations teams to achieve ambitious revenue goals and secure Sofitel Queenstown's competitive advantage in the luxury market.

Job Description

  • Ensure that the RM Strategy (business mix, pricing, brand positioning of the hotel) is in place and properly deployed to optimize the hotel occupancy, average rate and yield. Take a collaborative approach within La Maison and Accor locally.
  • Plays an active role in the strategic planning, marketing plan and budgeting processes, challenging the strategy with the General Manager & Sales and Marketing Manager
  • Ensure adequate comprehensive reporting of the RM performance and suggest the appropriate sales actions according to business risks and opportunities detected for the future.
  • Maximize competitor intelligence utilizing STR including optimizing competitor sets. Review appropriate competitor set data against the Luxury Segment more broadly and outside the competitor set.
  • In charge of consolidating and managing the reporting of the RM performance and suggest the appropriate sales actions according to business risks and opportunities detected for the future periods (from one week to one year).
  • Ensure that the RM training courses, processes, systems and tools are in place and properly used.
  • Produces and analyzes current and historical demand including lost business turndown, rooms on the books, competitive set and market trends to aid in more accurate forecasting.
  • Monitors third party intelligence sources to identify revenue opportunities (OTA, GDS, market studies). Keep current with industry changes and how it may impact demand 
  • Implement and coordinate annual pricing for business & leisure and nett wholesale rates with hotel based on market conditions and forecasts. 
  • Lead the top line revenue budgeting process for the hotel. 
  • Ensure rate parity and adherence to website policies and pricing and distribution policies. 
  • Drive web distribution strategy ensuring direct web continues to grow more strongly than indirect web. Work closely with the Director of Revenue for the country, along with marketing to ensure adequate activity is in place to support growth in direct web. Ensure hotel strategies in place to control optimize indirect web and ensure continuing direct web contribution growth. 
  • Drive revenue culture through training and communication 
  • Act as a consultant for the hotel General Manager and revenue manager for RM technical and HR topics (recruitment, coaching, and training). 
  • When required participate in owner consultation and commercial reviews 
  • Drive data driven strategies that bring above market results 
  • Analytical information to broaden the knowledge of all stakeholders and Teams 
  • Owner communications and messaging – be a deliverer of information and assist the Hotel & GM with representation to Owners 
  • A key communicator with overarching strategies and market information specialist 
  • Marketplace expert and go-to 
  • Use the Annual Business Plan & Financial Plan as a guide to controlling expenditure during the financial year. 
  • Ensure that all activities are within budgeted guidelines, although exploring any additional activities and present to the General Managers opportunities over and above the budget that make strong commercial sense. 
  • Ensuring the hotel is maximizing top line revenue opportunities and is performing compared to budget.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Hospitality/Hotel Management or Business Degree.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a full time RM position.
  • Strong user knowledge of IDeaS, Excel, Tars and Opera.
  • Good understanding of financial management processes is vital.
  • Experience in Revenue Management essential and experience in Accor Revenue Management and Distribution desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has the aptitude and willingness to undertake further development with Sofitel.
  • Strong communicator, with the ability to influence and negotiate with owners, General Managers and stakeholders from across the business.
  • Highly results oriented – ensuring hotel performance is fully optimized.
  • Multicultural awareness and able to work with people from diverse cultures.
  • Flexible and able to embrace and respond to change effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and is highly proactive.
  • Strong sense of relationship with the team, ensuring constant training and improvement on skills.
