About the role

Provide personalised coaching and mentoring to a team of Disability Support Workers, focusing on skill development and best practices, while overseeing the operations of 2 Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes within Broken Hill. The role involves a 6-week rotation on-call component as well as occasional travel and shift work. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate high-volume 24/7 service operations
  • Provide proactive leadership to a team of 19 Disability Support Workers
  • Foster a culture of resilience and adaptability
  • Effectively manage crisis situations and complex behavioural incidents
  • Strong understanding of positive behaviour support and restrictive practices
  • Encourage staff competency in active support and complex client care
  • Act as a key liaison with families, navigating complex care dynamics
  • National collaboration to maintain service alignment with organisational standards
  • Balance competing demands, ensuring completion of mandatory reporting, compliance, risk management, and resource optimisation

Skills & Experience

  • Established influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to think creatively and problem solve
  • Diploma in relevant Social & Community Services or relevant experience
  • Previous leadership experience within the delivery of services to people with disability
  • Experience in supporting clients with complex care needs and high behaviours 
  • Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
