Our field team play a significant part in our business. As a Distribution Line Mechanic based in our Invercargill Depot, you’ll be part of a dedicated team who safely build and maintain reliable electricity for our customers throughout the network. You’ll be integral to our success.

This is a full-time and permanent position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday plus overtime and on call subject to skills and experience. 

Main duties

  • Provide line maintenance, construction and fault repair across our network
  • Install, replace, and maintain overhead and underground/ ground mounted power line equipment,
  • Adhere and comply at all times with your Network Access Competency Scope of Practice

About you

  • Minimum of Current EWRB limited registration
  • Preferably a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Line Mechanic within the electricity industry in New Zealand or a minimum 4 years’ experience as a Line Mechanic overseas, working with distribution plant and equipment. 
  • Current working knowledge of the industry’s safety regulations
  • Ability to perform call-out duties, possibly alone and after hours, in inclement weather
  • Physically fit and capable of working outdoors
