The opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Divisional Manager to drive our Water and Roading Maintenance division and Whangārei workshop.

As a senior leader at Fulton Hogan, you’ll be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of the division, from strategic planning, budgeting and operational delivery, through to developing high performing teams and fostering strong client relationships. You’ll report through to the Regional Manager and ensure our work consistently meets the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental care—always with the “Good Work” attitude that’s a hallmark of our team.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Lead a talented workforce, providing clear direction and support, while nurturing a safe and positive team culture.

  • Drive operational performance—overseeing maintenance operations, pricing, tendering and delivering projects to specification, on time and on budget.

  • Build and maintain robust relationships with customers, suppliers and stakeholders across the region.

  • Champion health, safety, quality and environmental best practices. Ensuring rules are followed, risks are managed and everyone goes home safe.

  • Monitor trends and seeking out new ways for everyone to work smarter, safer and with pride.

  • Steer business strategy, planning and commercial performance for the division.

To be successful in this role:

  • Relevant engineering qualifications (BE, NZCE) or significant hands-on industry experience.

  • Significant experience in water or road maintenance contracts – essential.

  • Demonstrated senior management, operational and financial management capability.

  • Proven track record delivering complex projects and contracts, ideally in the maintenance and civil infrastructure space.

  • Knowledge of contracting, tendering and relevant legislation. Experience with NZTA or local authority processes is a plus.

  • Skilled communicator, critical thinker and practical problem-solver.

  • Ready to roll up your sleeves, listen, learn and encourage your team to do the same.

  • Proficiency with digital systems such as Maximo, JDE and E-roads would be a bonus.
