Gaudenzia DRC is hiring a full‑time onsite Custodian in Philadelphia to support building operations in a human services setting. Under moderate supervision you will clean offices and common areas, empty trash, vacuum and mop floors, touch up bathrooms, perform light groundskeeping, and manage cleaning product inventory while ensuring security and compliance with safety regulations. The job may relocate between facilities as needed; reliability and pride in keeping spaces sanitary are key. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED preferred, ability to read labels, and about one year of related experience preferred. This is full performance work in support areas necessary to the maintenance of program services
and buildings such as building and grounds, security, and on occasion, food service. Employee
has controlling responsibility for the completion of assigned support tasks. Variations in work
routine occasionally shift the work station from one location to another and to other facilities if
conditions warrant. Work is performed under medium supervision and in accordance with set
instructions and established custodial safety, sanitation and health regulations. Contact is with
clients and with other Gaudenzia DRC staff. Work requires moderate physical exertion. This is
essentially a low skills position, providing custodial services within the building of a human
services facility. Duties are generally predictable and routine in nature, and include general
cleaning of offices, inventory of toxic/caustic materials, and supervision of cleaning products used.
Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of meeting rooms, client residences, bathrooms, other
public areas, trash removal, some outside and maintenance groundskeeping. Performance of these
duties affects all clients and personnel, therefore pride in work and a desire to maintain standards
of cleanliness is very important.

DUTIES:
None
1. Cleans all offices, meeting rooms, reception and common areas daily:
2. Vacuum rugs, sweep, mop and wax floors
3. Dust, clean and polish furniture and equipment
4. Empty all trash containers and place in outside Dumpster/Container
5. Cleans, scrubs, and paints all bathrooms, hallways, etc.
6. Sweeps and mops all hallways and stairways daily.
7. Wax and buff floors weekly.
8. Cleans all bathrooms twice daily.
9. Removes all trash and rubbish from the premises, removes snow and ice from sidewalks.
10. Cleans walls twice yearly.
11. Maintains security of property; observe safety, sanitation and fire regulations.
12. Maintains security and inventory of all cleaning products while on the client floors and in
common areas.
13. Wash all windows, mirrors and inside glass areas.
14. Performs groundskeeping chores, as assigned.
15. Participates fully in assigned evacuation drills and understands duties in an emergency.
16. And other duties as assigned by operations management team.
17. Requests supervision when unclear about work, responsibilities and duties.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Graduate or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
2. Ability to read and understand labels, instructions, etc.
3. One (1) year related experience preferred.
