Gaudenzia is seeking a DRC Repairman for full-time, on-site work in Philadelphia, 8am to 4pm. This skilled maintenance role covers mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, fire safety equipment, groundskeeping, custodial coordination, and occasional painting or drywall work, with on-call flexibility for building emergencies. You’ll report to the Maintenance Supervisor and may have limited supervisory duties. Requires two years of hands-on repair experience, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and ability to read labels. This is full performance work in support areas necessary to the maintenance of program services
and buildings such as building and grounds security, food service, laundry and transportation.
Employee has controlling responsibility for the completion of assigned support tasks. On
occasion, limited supervisory duties may be present. Work is performed under the direction of an
administrative superior and in accordance with routines that are well established and stable in
nature. Work is sometimes strenuous, requiring physical exertion and, at other times, of a nature
requiring technical knowledge and skill. Contact is with clients, fellow staff and outside
maintenance technicians. This is a skilled general maintenance and repair position within a
human services agency contained within a large physical facility, and other agency facilities if
conditions warrant. Duties include repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (HVAC
Systems), hardware, maintenance of fire systems, coordination of custodial work,
groundskeeping, and various other duties. Work requires flexibility of routines and a broad
range of practical skills, and the practicality of being “on call” to handle building emergencies.


SUPERVISED BY: Maintenance Supervisor


SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

1. Repairs mechanical, electrical, and plumbing breakdowns, etc.
2. Checks and cleans all fire extinguishers, hoses, cabinets, compressors, tools, and equipment.
3. Moves and stores furniture, equipment and supplies.
4. Patches, plasters, repairs and paints drywall, walls, tile, ceilings, floors and doors.
5. Cleans and replaces filters on all equipment, maintains safe and secure working area.
6. Keeps all side walk, common and parking areas clean of debris, ice and snow.
7. Replaces heads in sprinkler systems that are corroded, rusted or in default.
8. Coordinates cleaning by maintenance personnel.
9. Drives company vehicles, fills out proper mileage and maintenance forms, provides routine
maintenance as directed by policy.
10. Assists in kitchen area with daily upkeep and inventory of supplies.
11. Occasionally will paint wall surfaces throughout building.
12. Participates fully in assigned evacuation drills understanding fully assigned duties.
13. Requests supervision when unclear about responsibilities, safety and work.
14. Reports safety hazards or unsafe practices to administrative superior who will proceed with
correction procedures.
15. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Two (2) years experience in job which included minor plumbing, electrical and mechanical
repairs, painting, carpentry, drywall repair, lock repairs, draining, filling and changing over
York boilers, compressors, air conditioning, chiller and air-handling units.
2. High School Graduate or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
3. Ability to read and understand labels, instructions, etc.
4. Current, valid driver’s license.
