Freedom + Structure - Your week could look like:

  • Monday–Thursday: Travelling to branches across the South Island/Lower North Island delivering training and assessments
  • Friday: Admin day from home/office - catch up, plan, close out your week

Travel With Purpose

This role includes regular domestic travel across the whole of NZ with full travel expenses covered. You’ll explore everything from Timaru to Ōamaru to Invercargill while helping drivers across WM NZ operate safely and confidently.

When you’re not travelling, 99% of your admin can be done from home or from our main office in Wellington/Christchurch. You’ll have the autonomy to run your schedule, manage your workload, and shape your approach.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver group and individual competency‑based driver training
  • Assess drivers using approved WM NZ training materials and NZ standards
  • Build training plans for each branch and ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Coach and support Business Instructors across the country
  • Conduct audits when required
  • Keep training content up-to-date with legislation, industry changes, and best practice
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting
  • Model WM NZ’s values: Safety, Service, Sustainability, Innovation and Together

Qualifications

Essential

  • Clean NZ driver’s licence (no exceptions)
  • I Endorsement (no exceptions)
  • Class 2–4 (Class 5 a strong advantage)
  • NZ industry experience - transport, logistics, waste, or heavy vehicle operations
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
  • Competence with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel and stay away from home regularly
  • Competency delivering training to groups and individuals

Highly Advantageous

  • Experience with NZTA licensing, ITO training or competency‑based assessments
  • WTR, OSH, DG, SAFED, or similar certifications
  • Experience operating vehicle‑mounted equipment (front lift, side lift, hook lift, Hiab, etc.)
