About the role

Join our Mobile Donor Centre Team in Adelaide! Travel through vibrant regional South Australia and help the community collect life-saving donations.

Working with our generous donors, enjoy a more predictable, people-focused environment, with less hospital pressure and the chance to be a key part of the community.

As a Registered Nurse, you will bring your fantastic customer-facing skills and passion to deliver an exceptional service, while working together to ensure Australia’s supply of blood products.

A day on the mobile donor unit could see you:

  • Greet and interview potential donors in regional SA to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
  • Provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process
  • Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  • Set up machines and collections equipment
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
  • Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation

Our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported. Besides having a real passion to deliver an exceptional donor experience, you’ll need to be able to:

  • Be comfortable traveling across regional South Australia via car (Up to 4 hour drive) and by flight for trips of up to 4 days at a time
  • Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday including weekends and afternoon shifts
  • Have a strong ability to connect with donors and build lasting relationships.
  • A Collaborative Nature: A team player who thrives in a supportive environment.
  • Utilise your expertise having completed a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) and hold a current AHPRA registration
  • Be comfortable working independently as the sole Registered Nurse, with support from Nursing Assistants when needed.
  • Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs
  • Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
  • Have your own vehicle and driver's licence.

Travel Requirement: This role requires you to work our Mobile Unit and our static donor centre. Whilst working on the Mobile Unit, regional travel and overnight stays (up to 4 nights at a time) are required. Please confirm if you can meet this operational requirement.
