Macpac is hiring an eCommerce Operations Specialist to bridge tech and operations, keeping the ecommerce platform humming and turning our omni digital strategy into real customer outcomes from onsite Christchurch. You’ll own day-to-day platform ops including SFCC backend, GA4 ownership, Mandrill monitoring, system access, audits and inventory accuracy, while supporting trading and promotions, order reconciliation and vendor feeds. You’ll coordinate campaigns for a seamless customer journey and help drive platform enhancements. The ideal candidate has 1+ years in eCommerce Ops or Trading, working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS and a CMS (Shopify, Magento or similar), solid data analytics and a hands-on, curious mindset. To apply, tailor your CV with measurable results, share problem solving stories, and demonstrate collaboration across teams; retail experience is a bonus but not essential.

As an eCommerce Operations Specialist at Macpac, you’ll be the bridge between tech and operations, helping keep our digital platforms running smoothly while improving the online experience for our customers. This is a hands-on role with plenty of scope to grow.

What you’ll be doing…You’ll act as the bridge between business and tech, helping bring our omni digital strategy to life by:

  • Keeping the platform humming - Own day‑to‑day ecommerce platform operations, including SFCC backend activities, GA4 ownership, Mandrill monitoring, system access, audits, indexing and overall platform stability
  • Supporting trading & operations - Enable day‑to‑day ecommerce trading through operational execution, including overseeing order reconciliation and vendor feeds, promotions and coupon setup, identification of pricing issues, inventory accuracy and ensuring product availability across the platform.
  • Improving customer experience - Own and coordinate operational and trading PIRs for campaigns and seasonal periods, ensuring data accuracy and driving clear follow-up actions with Trading Manager and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Website & operational issue management - Monitor site health and resolve issues including bugs, and maintain replications, store hours, pricing errors, inventory discrepancies and emergency product actions, raising and managing tickets through to resolution.
  • Improving customer experience - Analyse feedback, reviews and returns to identify opportunities that enhance the online customer journey.
  • Driving platform enhancements - Support development releases, test new features, and optimise site architecture and performance.
  • Partnering across the business - Collaborate with vendors and internal teams, translating insights into actionable technical and business outcomes.

About you…We care more about attitude, curiosity and problem-solving mindset than years of experience.

You’re someone who:

  • Loves understanding how things work end-to-end
  • Enjoys troubleshooting and getting to the root of issues
  • Is naturally analytical and detail-oriented
  • Feels comfortable working hands-on in systems
  • Is motivated to learn and grow as platforms evolve

You’ll bring:

  • 1+ years’ experience in eCommerce Operations, Trading or Merchandising
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and at least one CMS (Shopify, Magento or similar)
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience with website analytics tools
  • Confidence learning new platforms and technologies
  • Retail experience is a bonus — but not essential.

At Macpac, we’re more than a brand — we’re a team that values curiosity, problem-solving, and making a real impact. As an eCommerce Operations Specialist, you’ll get hands-on with platforms, data, and projects that shape our online experience. If you’re ready to tackle challenges, grow your technical skills, and help our customers get outdoors, we want to hear from you.
