Macpac is hiring a Brand New Role: ECommerce Trading & Merchandising Specialist in Christchurch, a full-time onsite position. You’ll partner with the ECommerce Trading & Merchandising Manager and Marketing to translate strategy into action across trading, reporting, site experience, content and personalisation to lift conversion and revenue. We value attitude, curiosity and potential over years of experience, so graduates or those moving from retail or other digital fields are welcome. Demonstrate strong Excel and GA skills, a willingness to own tasks end to end, and a drive to learn. Bonus points for CMS exposure, basic HTML, retail sense, or an interest in AI tools. We champion inclusion.

About the Role… At Macpac, you’ll join a supportive, collaborative digital team where your ideas are valued, and your growth genuinely matters. You’ll gain hands-on experience with real trading decisions, commercial outcomes and modern eCommerce platforms — building future-ready skills while helping customers gear up for adventure. It’s a place to learn, contribute and grow your digital career.

What you’ll be doing… Working closely with our ECommerce Trading & Merchandising Manager, Merchandising teams and Marketing partners, you’ll help bring our digital strategy to life by:

  • Trading & Online Category Support - Execute online trading strategies, including promotions, pricing and range optimisation.
  • Reporting & Insights - Analyse performance data and turn insights into actions that improve conversion and sales
  • Website Experience & Optimisation - Optimise the on‑site experience across navigation, filters, sorting rules, search and journeys, driving continuous improvement through A/B testing and roadmap execution.
  • Product Content & Presentation - Maintain and optimise high‑quality, on‑brand content across PDPs, PLPs, brand pages, bundles and site assets, ensuring accuracy, discoverability and commercial effectiveness.
  • Personalisation & Customer Experience - Plan and execute A/B tests in collaboration with UX and R&E teams, translating insights into site improvements that increase conversion, engagement and revenue.
  • Personalisation & Customer Experience - Deliver personalised digital journeys through customer groups, content slots and loyalty‑led experiences, in partnership with Loyalty and CRM teams.

About you…You don’t need years of experience — we’re looking for attitude, curiosity and potential.

You might be a graduate, early in your career, or moving into digital from retail or another field.

You will bring:

  • A strong interest in digital, eCommerce and how online experiences work
  • A positive, proactive mindset and willingness to learn
  • Confidence working hands-on in systems and platforms
  • A curious nature — you want to understand how things connect end-to-end
  • The motivation to take ownership and grow with the role

Bonus points if you have:

  • Exposure to CMS or web platforms
  • Retail experience or understanding
  • Basic HTML knowledge (not essential)
  • Interest in how AI tools can support digital workflows

What will help you succeed

  • Strong Excel and Google Analytics skills
  • Comfort learning new digital tools and systems
  • Clear communication and solid organisation
  • An operational mindset — you enjoy getting into the detail and making things better

A tertiary qualification in Marketing, Business or a related field is great — but real-world experience and passion matter just as much.

If you’re excited by data, motivated by learning, and ready to build a career in eCommerce — we’d love to hear from you.
