Zen Educate, a London-based EdTech platform, is looking for Education Recruitment Consultants to help schools get the teachers they need, when they need them, without the waste of old-school agencies. The company runs an online platform that gives schools instant access to fully vetted teachers and support staff. Since 2017, Zen Educate has saved schools over £30 million, and it has closed a $37m Series B as it scales in the UK and the US. The role is based in London, Oval, and requires five days on site, with a salary band of £35,000–£55,000 OTE. It’s a mission-driven team aimed at making a measurable difference in education.

The opportunity suits those who love building relationships, solving meaningful problems, and working with a purpose beyond profit. If you’re excited by helping schools hire smarter and faster and enjoy being part of a team with clear impact, this could be for you. The company emphasizes a startup mindset, hands-on, collaborative, and ready to roll up your sleeves when needed.

Zen Educate has built a platform that connects schools with vetted staff, and the company is growing quickly in both the UK and the US. It’s a moment to join a team that’s reshaping how schools staff classrooms, with a culture focused on learning and real-world outcomes rather than bureaucracy.

A day in the life at Zen Educate

In this role you’ll own relationships with key schools, guiding them through recruitment processes with a consultative approach. You’ll lead school leaders through decisions about hiring and help them hire smarter and faster, while you build genuine relationships on the phone rather than just chasing numbers. You’ll work closely with Sales, Ops, and the Tech team to ensure schools get a high-quality, smooth experience, and you’ll be prepared to pitch in wherever needed in a startup setting where no two weeks look the same.

Here’s how a typical week might unfold: you’ll speak with Headteachers about savings Zen can deliver, source a teacher who’s a perfect fit for a school, follow up with current users to broaden how they use Zen, share feedback with the product team about what schools want from the platform, coordinate with Operations to sort out tricky bookings, and join a quick team brainstorm to improve how the pipeline is built.

The essentials and the extras

Zen Educate wants people who bring energy and curiosity, with a readiness to learn the rest on the job. Here’s what helps you thrive in this role.

  • A natural enthusiasm and curiosity, with a willingness to learn everything else on the job
  • Confidence making outbound calls, handling objections, and building trust quickly
  • A proven track record of hitting sales targets or achieving similar KPIs
  • A team player who enjoys being part of a close-knit group
  • A passion for having a positive social impact and care for education
  • A growth mindset that’s always seeking to learn and improve

Nice-to-haves include staying local to London or planning to relocate so you can commit to onsite work five days a week, prior experience in fast-moving, startup environments, and a background in recruitment or sales that translates to this role.

Pay, perks and practical details

The role is full-time and based at Zen Educate’s London office, with onsite attendance five days per week during term time. The salary band runs from £35,000 to £55,000 OTE.

Zen Educate offers a central London office with perks such as fresh fruit, bike parking, showers, an on-site gym, and a café, plus 25 days of holiday plus the usual UK public holidays. The package also includes Life & Health Insurance, a Cycle to Work Scheme, and an Electric Car Scheme, along with 1-1 coaching to support ongoing professional growth.

The company highlights its commitment to diversity and inclusion, aiming to create an equitable environment where people from varied backgrounds feel valued and can thrive. They welcome applicants from diverse experiences and beliefs and encourage a culture where different voices are heard.

Please note before applying: this role is based full-time at the London office and requires onsite attendance five days per week during term time. They encourage applications from candidates who live in or near the local area, or who plan on relocating.

Tips to stand out in this hiring process

Lead with your track record of hitting targets or achieving similar KPIs, placing concrete results at the top of your resume so what you’ve accomplished is instantly visible.

When you demonstrate the must-have skills, share concrete examples of outbound calls, objections you’ve overcome, and the relationships you’ve built that led to successful recruitments or placements.

Prepare for the interview sequence by thinking through how you’d approach account management, relationship-building, and hitting targets in a school context. Be ready for the practical task and role play, and show your ability to think on your feet in a school conversation.

Ask a thoughtful question about how the team collaborates across Sales, Ops, and Tech to deliver the best school experience, and how feedback from schools flows back into product development.
