Electrical BIM Modeler
Fatherson International FZEFatherson International FZE is hiring an Electrical BIM Modeler for a full-time, on-site role in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The company is looking for a hands-on engineer who can turn electrical design into precise 3D BIM data and coordinate across disciplines to keep projects on track. This position suits someone who enjoys wiring details, lighting layouts and the practical side of installation documentation.
The role centers on building and maintaining detailed 3D BIM models of electrical systems using Autodesk Revit MEP, and turning those models into shop drawings, installation drawings and construction documents. It involves modeling everything from lighting and small power to cable trays, trunking, conduits and containment, and arranging electrical rooms, LV rooms, risers, distribution boards and equipment layouts. You’ll generate lighting and power layouts, single-line diagrams and related documentation, all while aligning with the broader project model and engineering disciplines. Expect to work closely with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, architectural and structural teams to coordinate a coherent build, and you’ll run clash detection with Navisworks Manage or similar tools to resolve coordination issues. The job also calls for reviewing drawings to catch discrepancies, incorporating consultant comments, updating models to approved revisions, and helping prepare as-built drawings based on site information. Keeping everything compliant with BIM standards, specifications and relevant authority requirements is part of the remit, and collaboration with BIM Coordinators, Electrical Engineers, Draftsmen and site teams is essential to ensure accurate installation and timely delivery.
Day-to-day in the wiring of a modern building
On a typical day, you’ll develop and maintain 3D BIM models for electrical systems using Revit MEP and produce the accompanying shop drawings, installation drawings, coordinated layouts and construction documentation. You’ll model the electrical services that keep buildings lit and powered, including lighting, small power, cable containment and the pathways that carry cables, as well as the containment systems themselves. You’ll also lay out electrical rooms, LV rooms, risers, distribution boards and equipment placements so the model reflects real-world installation needs. Lighting and power layouts, single-line diagrams and related electrical records will come from this work, and you’ll ensure the electrical portion dovetails smoothly with the rest of the project model. Coordination with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, architectural and structural models is a constant, and you’ll use clash detection software to catch conflicts early and fix them with the team. You’ll review drawings from other disciplines to identify conflicts, then incorporate consultant feedback and update the BIM model and drawings with approved revisions. The role also includes helping prepare as-built drawings and record models from on-site information, all while adhering to project BIM standards, specifications and authority requirements. Regular coordination with BIM Coordinators, Electrical Engineers, Draftsmen and site teams helps ensure installation accuracy and a timely project finish.

- Working knowledge of Navisworks Manage for clash detection and cross-discipline coordination
- Solid understanding of electrical building services, including lighting, power distribution, cable containment and electrical room layouts
- Ability to read and interpret electrical design drawings, specifications and coordinated MEP layouts
- Knowledge of BIM workflows, LOD requirements, model coordination and drawing production
- UAE/Gulf project experience is preferred
- Experience collaborating with MEP consultants or engineering consultants is advantageous
- Good coordination, communication and problem-solving skills
- UAE/Gulf project exposure is a plus
- Experience working with MEP or engineering consultants is an advantage
Advice for applicants
Lead with a clear snapshot of a real electrical BIM project where you used Revit MEP to deliver install-ready drawings and a clash-free model, and highlight the project scale and your exact role.
Back up your resume with concrete examples of Revit MEP models and AutoCAD drawings you produced, plus Navisworks clash detections you ran and how you resolved the issues with the team. If you can, quantify outcomes like reduced clashes or faster turnaround times to show impact.
Be ready in interviews to describe how you interpret electrical design drawings and how you coordinate with HVAC, plumbing, architectural and structural teams to prevent conflicts. Have a concrete time you resolved a clash, what actions you took, and the resulting schedule or cost benefit you achieved.
Ask a focused question about their BIM standards and workflow, for example: which BIM standards and LOD levels they apply on Sharjah projects, and how the team handles cross-discipline coordination and consultant comments during revisions and approvals.
