CERN seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to lead low voltage distribution design and protection studies for the accelerator complex, initially under senior guidance with growth into SPS LV renovations and UPS upgrades. Expect to produce LV calculations, single-line diagrams, lighting and earthing studies, using ElecCalc, Caneco, EPLAN, AutoCAD and DIALux. Requirements: Master’s with 2–6 years or PhD with up to 3 years, eligible as a CERN Member or Associate Member State national, fluent in English or French with plans to learn the other. Onsite Geneva, 40h/week, 24 months with extension; benefits include tax-free CHF 6,372–7,004 monthly, health and pension. CERN's Electrical Engineering Group manages power distribution from high to low voltage, fibre optics, and cabling for the accelerator complex. Within the Electrical Design and Documentation Office, you will support electrical design activities under senior guidance across key projects, including low voltage network renovation of the SPS electrical substations, upgrades of the Meyrin Computer Centre UPS network, and design support during Long Shutdown 3 on various projects. Your role focuses on low voltage distribution design, equipment sizing, protection and lighting studies, progressively leading to more complex project responsibilities.
