Day-to-day duties in the hotel’s electrical operations

You’ll be hands-on, carrying out electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs and minor installations across the hotel, keeping systems in good order and responding quickly to faults to minimise guest disruption.

In addition, you’ll regularly inspect lighting, emergency lighting, power outlets, switches, distribution boards and related equipment, while assisting with the testing and maintenance of emergency power systems, generators and UPS. You’ll also maintain accurate maintenance and testing records, support general maintenance across plumbing, HVAC, pumps and motors, and work with specialist contractors during planned shutdowns or upgrades, always ensuring work is performed safely and in line with New Zealand electrical safety requirements.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with your current EWRB registration and Practising Licence so the essential requirement is front and center.

Frame your experience around hands-on electrical maintenance and fault-finding, emphasizing roles in hotel or large-property environments and including concrete results from issues you’ve resolved.

Be ready to discuss how you manage electrical faults quickly in a busy hotel, how you stay compliant with safety rules, and how you prioritise tasks when multiple maintenance requests come in.

Ask about how planned shutdowns are scheduled and how contractors coordinate with the hotel team to complete upgrades safely and efficiently.
