WSP is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Inspector with a strong Electrical engineering background to support construction supervision activities on utilities and infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting electrical installations while also possessing sufficient knowledge of associated mechanical systems to support testing, commissioning, and project delivery activities.

The Electromechanical Inspector will be part of the Construction Supervision team and will report to the Resident Engineer and Electrical Engineer. The role will focus primarily on electrical inspection activities related to utility and infrastructure projects, including power supply systems, control panels, street lighting, pumping stations, SCADA systems, and associated electromechanical installations.

The ideal candidate will have consultant-side site supervision experience on utilities and infrastructure projects and a solid understanding of mechanical equipment associated with utility facilities, such as pumps, valves, generators, and related systems.

  • Perform site inspections of electrical and electromechanical works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor installation, testing, and commissioning activities for electrical systems associated with infrastructure and utility projects.
  • Inspect LV systems, control panels, MCCs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, street lighting, and utility electrical networks.
  • Review inspection requests, material approvals, shop drawings, and test reports.
  • Witness factory tests, site acceptance tests, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Verify proper installation and operation of electromechanical equipment including pumps, motors, generators, and control systems.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with project quality requirements and authority regulations.
  • Identify non-conforming works and track corrective actions through to closeout.
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineers, discipline engineers, contractors, and local authorities.
  • Prepare daily inspection records and support progress, quality, and handover reporting activities.
  • Participate in snagging, de-snagging, and final acceptance inspections.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of construction supervision experience on utilities and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong electrical inspection background gained through consultancy-based site supervision assignments.
  • Experience working on projects involving:
    • Pumping stations
    • Sewerage networks
    • Stormwater drainage networks
    • Irrigation networks
    • Potable water systems
    • Utility infrastructure developments
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems associated with utility facilities including pumps, valves, generators, and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with testing and commissioning of electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with Abu Dhabi and UAE authority requirements is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, method statements, and inspection test plans.
  • Strong reporting and communication skills.
