Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH is looking for an Energy & Hydrogen Policy Specialist (m/w/d) to deliver policy intelligence, regulatory alignment, and advocacy across Europe from Offenbach. In this role you monitor EU energy and hydrogen policies including RED II/III, Fit for 55, TEN-E, industrial decarbonization rules, and related standards, align positions with internal stakeholders, and build relationships with national authorities in Germany while representing HMG in European industry groups. You will translate regulatory developments into strategic guidance for business development and leadership, and prepare policy briefs and executive presentations. Role Summary:

As the Energy & Hydrogen Policy Specialist (m/w/d), you provide policy intelligence and recommendations, regulatory alignment, and advocacy efforts related to energy and hydrogen in Europe, ensuring Hyundai Motor Group’s strategic positioning within evolving EU frameworks and supporting engagement with government bodies and industry associations.

We want you to:

  • Monitor and analyze European energy and hydrogen policies such as renewable energy directories and policies (RED II/ RED III, Fit for 55, Clean Energy Package, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism), industrial decarbonization policies, hydrogen certifications (Guarantees of Origin, RFNBO compliance), infrastructure regulations (TEN-E etc.), energy taxation directives, state ads & funding frameworks (IPCEI, H2 Valleys), safety & technical standards and similar initiatives.
  • Ensure internal alignment with Hyundai Motor Group stakeholders (such as Hyundai Motor Company Brussels Office, HME ESG, HMG Energy & Hydrogen Policy Group etc.) on policy positions and regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with national authorities and regulatory agencies -  especially in Germany - to support HMG’s energy and hydrogen initiatives in the European region.
  • Represent HMG in European advocacy groups such as Global Hydrogen Mobility Alliance, Hydrogen Europe, Clean Energy Partnership and other industry associations to influence policy development.
  • Evaluate how EU and national regulations affect HMG’s renewable energy and hydrogen business strategies and work with Business Development teams to formulate strategic plans and initiatives to ensure alignment and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
  • Prepare policy briefs, reports, and recommendations for regional leadership to guide strategic decisions.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Energy, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of relevant professional experience in energy, hydrogen, public policy, government affairs, or regulatory environments.
  • Experience in government and regulatory stakeholder management.
  • Strong ability to ensure strategic business alignment with evolving policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience working in matrix organizations and ensuring internal alignment across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in policy monitoring, analyzing, impact assessment, and strategic translation into business implications.
  • Strong stakeholder communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Experience in preparing policy briefings, reports, and executive-level presentations.
