Qualifications include a geotechnical related degree, EGBC registration or eligibility, 0–5 years mining experience, and knowledge of relevant software. Pay CAD 107k–132k. Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, Geotechnical, the Geotechnical Engineer or Engineer-in-Training is responsible for supporting the geotechnical aspects of mine planning and design through to execution, including pit expansions, slope monitoring, geotechnical investigation programs and design compliance. This position is a temporary full time 18 month role.

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and proven experience in overseeing and coordinating multiple internal resources and external contractors in projects. This role requires a motivated self-starter, who can multi-task effectively and work collaboratively with others in a technical team-based environment. Demonstrated experience with project management and training in Geotechnical Engineering and mine planning will be considered an asset.

Both field and office work will be required as part of the role.
The shift schedule will be a rotation of 7 days on, followed by 7 days off, 12-hour dayshift (7am to 7pm).
Pay Range: CAD $107,000 - $132,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
