As the Environmental Regulatory Student, you will assist thermal and conventional operations with the coordination of information from project team members and consultants for the preparation of applications/authorization/plans and support regulatory advocacy efforts on proposed regulatory change and application issue management. Additionally, you will assist with the preparation of project information for presentation to local stakeholders and regulators. 

  • Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday) 
  • Term length: 4 months

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist Regulatory and Environmental Coordinators in the preparation of regulatory submissions for amendments, authorizations, notifications for assets
  • Support in data compilation, statistical analysis for annual/quarterly reports, or applications
  • Help with the preparation of reports and documentation to regulatory agencies to fulfill Indigenous consultation and engagement requirements for regulatory applications
  • Assist operations and regulatory/environmental staff in managing project commitments for specific assets
  • Support tracking of approval conditions to ensure on-going regulatory compliance utilizing a software solution
  • Assist with the monitoring of regulatory publications and review of project decisions (e.g. approvals and court decisions) on a regular basis to keep department apprised of new requirements and changes to applicable regulatory requirements
  • Support preparation for advocacy efforts related to proposed regulatory change and application issues

 What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of a recognized Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Law and Society, or related program
  • Attention to detail, organized, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
