Kinross Gold Corporation seeks an Equipment Operator-Truck at Fort Knox, a full-time on-site role about 26 miles from Fairbanks, Alaska. You will safely and efficiently operate mine haulage equipment, perform pre-operation checks, monitor ground stability, communicate with haul road traffic, document loads and destinations, and follow standard operating procedures under supervision. A high school diploma or equivalent, general heavy equipment experience, strong written and verbal communication, and a valid state driver’s license are preferred. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, holidays and weekends is required. Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. Safe and efficient operation of mine equipment. Beginning equipment operators will operate haulage units to transport and dump ore, waste rock, and other materials with the ability to work to finish. Work is performed in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) and the instructions received from the supervisor.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
• General background in heavy equipment operation preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the physical demands sheets.
• Ability to work with others in a team environment in addition to work without constant supervision.
• Must be able to do shift work, overtime, and work holidays and weekends.
• Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.
• Adheres to all safety and environmental considerations.
• Have a strong commitment to safe working practices.
• Wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times while in the production environment.
