Huawei Research Center Germany & Austria is seeking a European Patent Attorney fluent in English and German to manage and strengthen Huawei’s European patent portfolio, draft and prosecute applications, collaborate with inventors and external counsel, and support licensing and litigation in Europe. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in electrical engineering, computer science, physics or a related field, is a qualified European patent attorney (German qualification a plus), and has strong English and German legal language skills. The European Intellectual Property (IP) Department is a full-function IPR Department responsible for all intellectual property matters in Europe for Huawei. It manages all patent licensing, litigation and IP policy strategy and activities in Europe. It supports protection of cutting-edge technologies generated by Huawei’s talented researchers in Research and Development Centers in Europe, as well as other aspects of portfolio management, including patent prosecution. It provides all legal and IP support for the standardization, open source, industrial ecosystem and technical cooperation activities in Europe.

Your mission
Implementing Huawei’s global patent portfolio management strategy in Europe and focusing on strengthening claims to align with specific business goals and potential licensing and litigation scenarios;
Managing patent portfolios in various technical fields, including preparing, drafting, filing, and prosecuting of patent applications and office action response, in close cooperation with inventors, in-house colleagues and/or outside counsels, as well as reviewing and evaluating invention disclosures, claim charts, conducting interviews with examiners and patent applications/patents for commercialization;
Supporting patent and technology licensing and litigation activities in Europe in English and German language, including preparing and reviewing the technical documents, performing patent infringement and validity analyses, in close cooperation with in-house colleagues and/or outside counsel;
Your areas of expertise
Master’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering/telecommunication, computer science, physics or a closely related field;
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and German (legal English and German);
Qualified European patent attorney and additionally German patent attorney qualification is a plus;
