Main goal

The Event Team Leader is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of the final tournament of assigned UEFA youth competitions. The role acts as project leader, overseeing the full event life cycle – from the initial strategic operations planning through operational implementation to post-event evaluation – ensuring delivery in line with UEFA standards, objectives and quality requirements under the guidance of senior management.

The role is accountable for providing timely, accurate and structured tournament reporting throughout all phases of the project (preparation, delivery and post-event), regularly updating senior and top management on project status, risks and key milestones.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading and managing assigned projects from kick-off through planning and implementation to the debrief, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines, scope and service levels, and collecting and analysing data and stakeholder feedback.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for the local organising structure (LOS), building and maintaining a professional, collaborative and solution-oriented working relationship.
  • Managing and monitoring the project budget, leading the budgeting process in coordination with the LOS and the UEFA Finance division, ensuring financial compliance and transparency.
  • Leading and coordinating the UEFA project team, ensuring alignment across functional areas, promoting collaboration and driving performance towards successful event delivery.
  • Ensuring the consistency, standardisation and continuous improvement of processes while facilitating the efficient and transparent flow of information to UEFA and LOS stakeholders.
  • Delivering regular and structured tournament reporting throughout the preparation and tournament phases, providing senior and top management with clear visibility on project progress, key risks and mitigation measures, in line with defined reporting timelines.


Additional duties:

  • Acting as venue manager or providing support within the unit during the preparatory phase of other tournaments if needed
  • Undertaking additional tasks and on-site responsibilities within the scope of the Tournament & Event Management unit, as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • From 4 to 6 years experience in event operations, ideally in sports or event management at an international level with close venue involvement

Languages:

  • Fluent in English

Other requirements:

  • Relocation to Switzerland/France is expected
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Solid Project Management skills
