Tips for a standout application
Lead your resume with your NZ-based F&B experience, especially if you’ve worked in hotels or premium dining, and make the first line emphasize at least one year of relevant work in New Zealand.
Demonstrate the must-have skills by citing real-world examples: clear, precise communication with teammates and guests; a track record of addressing guest concerns with tact; and a demonstrable commitment to presentation and grooming standards, plus your experience handling dietary requirements and food safety procedures.
Be ready for interviews with stories that show you’ve delivered five-star service in a restaurant or hotel setting, handled allergy or dietary needs accurately, and kept service areas clean and well stocked while managing guest expectations during busy periods.
Ask a precise, brand-relevant question such as how Cordis Auckland measures WOW moments in guest experiences, how upselling is encouraged across the outlets, or what a typical rotating shift looks like in practice for the F&B team.
