Employment Opportunities at Bupa: Be at the Heart of Aged Care

Every day, in every way, we bring real heart to work. It is what drives us to deliver our refreshingly different person-first commitment to care. That is why we are seeking people like you to join our care homes in Whangārei: Bupa Tōtara Gardens Care Home, a 56-bed care home offering rest home, hospital, and dementia levels of care, and Bupa Merrivale Care Home, a 66-bed care home offering rest home & hospital level of care.

Our care homes in Tikipunga and Kamo, Whangārei, offer supportive leadership that fosters a welcoming environment where you can make a true difference, all while developing your career. You will be passionate about what you do, take pride in providing quality care, be a team player, and build relationships with residents and their families. Help us rise to the challenges of enriching the lives of our society’s most vulnerable.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest for a variety of roles that our care homes typically recruit for!

A range of permanent, casual, and fixed term opportunities are available.

These roles are typically on a rotating roster pattern, so you will need to have flexibility. You should also have flexibility to work across both care homes when needed to provide support.

  • Caregivers: provide compassionate care and support with activities of daily living to our residents to enrich their lives.
  • Activities Assistants: contribute your fun and creative ideas to our activities programme.
  • Cleaners & Household Assistants: create a homely and healthy place for our residents by providing an exceptional cleaning service.
  • Cooks and Kitchen Assistants: ensure that the food and nutritional needs of our residents are met.
  • Laundry Workers: help create a homely and healthy place for our residents by providing an exceptional laundry service.
  • Registered Nurses: provide person-centred clinical care for residents and lead a team of caregivers.
  • Administrative Support: deliver high level of customer service and reception duties, and efficiently manage administrative tasks.

Our Bupa Care Homes are based in Whangārei, Northland, a beautiful city which is just two hours north of Auckland and an hour from the Bay of Islands, known for having some of the best beaches and coastline in New Zealand. Whangārei is a thriving city with a vibrant arts community, and you will be connected to a natural environment and have the stunning 26m Whangārei Falls nearby (often called the 'most photogenic waterfall in New Zealand'). Join a team that is passionate about what they do, with managers providing dynamic, supportive leadership.

Extra Reasons to Belong:

  • Fully subsidised Southern Cross health insurance to our eligible permanent NZ employees and a discount on insurance cover for eligible family members.
  • Wellbeing discounts and advice, EAP counselling services, study support, and cultural leave.
  • Paid parental leave - in addition to standard parental leave, Bupa offers 12 weeks of paid leave for primary carers and 2 weeks for secondary carers.
  • Industry-competitive remuneration and benefits, and internal reward and recognition programmes.
  • Global healthcare company and access to professional development – in-house and external training.
  • Refer-a-friend programme.
  • No matter who you are or where you come from, we encourage you to ‘Be You at Bupa’.
  • Fruit, snacks, tea, and coffee.

To express your interest, please submit an online application with your CV and we’ll reach out to chat about how you can progress your career with Bupa.

Please note that not all roles listed may be available at this time, but we often have new roles arise that we can update you about based on your experience and what you may be looking for.
