Fabrication Shop Supervisor – Structural Steel (2nd Shift)

Pay: Up to $34/hour, depending on experience
Position Summary
We are seeking a Fabrication Shop Supervisor to lead evening shift operations in a structural steel manufacturing environment. This hands-on role is responsible for coordinating shop activities, guiding production teams, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with quality standards.
The supervisor will work closely with leadership, quality teams, and maintenance to keep production on track and continuously improve shop performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with shop leadership to plan production and meet delivery timelines
- Supervise and support fabrication staff, including welders and fitters
- Assign and prioritize daily work to maximize output and efficiency
- Provide technical support related to fabrication methods, welding practices, and blueprint interpretation
- Monitor schedules and adjust staffing based on production demands
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and keep equipment running
- Set clear performance expectations and provide coaching and feedback
- Partner with quality personnel to ensure compliance with fabrication standards (including AISC)
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, timekeeping, and performance management
- Identify and implement improvements to workflow and productivity
- Support general shop operations and complete additional tasks as needed
Required Qualifications
- Strong background in structural steel fabrication, including layout, welding, and material handling
- Experience working with CNC fabrication equipment and related processes
- Understanding of production planning, quality standards, and cost-effective manufacturing
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
- Ability to work overtime or weekends as needed
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Trade school, technical certifications, or an associate degree is a plus
- Prior experience supervising fabrication or welding teams is highly preferred
