Job Description

Internal Job Title: Facilities Manager | Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3 pm.

Job Status: Existing Vacancy 

 

Position Summary

The role of building superintendent or manager is intended to assist and compliment existing in house teams with daily building operations, repairs and maintenance of both CBN manufacturing sites. This is an intricate role to ensure the smooth operation of two buildings with a combine size of approximately 300,000 square feet. The successful candidate will be integrated into a strong, dynamic and supportive team environment.

 

Core Responsibilities

Facility Operations, Maintenance & Safety Compliance

  • Encompasses all building upkeep, preventive maintenance programs (elevators, fire alarms, pest control, waste removal, etc.), safety inspections, environmental compliance, and managing risks to ensure facilities are safe, functional, and legally compliant.

Team Leadership & Oversight of On‑Site Personnel

  • Covers supervision and task assignment for custodial staff, groundskeepers, porters, skilled trades, and coordination with the Operating Engineer’s team.

Vendor, Contractor & Resource Coordination

  • Includes managing external service providers (maintenance programs, landscaping, waste disposal, trades services), coordinating contractor schedules, maintaining records and contracts, and ensuring service levels are met.

Budgeting, Purchasing & Inventory Management

  • Captures cost control for facility maintenance, assisting in budget prep, ordering supplies, managing inventory (janitorial, housekeeping, operational supplies), and overseeing purchasing processes including POs and invoice reconciliation.

Communication & Coordination

  • Serves as the primary contact for facilities related requests and repairs, ensures regulatory inspection records are up to date, and supports building operational readiness for both CBN manufacturing sites.

Operational Support, Reporting & Administrative Activities

  • Includes preparing reports from inspections, supporting production operations, coordinating logistics for events and tours, participating in ISO audits, handling internal work orders, and performing other assigned duties.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
  • Able to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret clearance.
  • 5+ years of experience managing commercial/industrial building maintenance for sites of 100,000+ sq ft.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general commercial/industrial maintenance practices, methods, and equipment for the following disciplines: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, mechanical and structural systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, CAD software).
  • Able to work outside of identified work hours as required.
  • Able to stand/walk for prolonged periods.
  • Able to lift/carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work at heights (ladder) and in confined spaces.
  • Able to travel between two manufacturing sites (145 Richmond Rd. and 975 Gladstone Ave.) 

Preferred Qualifications

  • College diploma or trade-school graduate
  • Certificate in building maintenance technology
