Project Overview:

Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex, and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies, and provide opportunities for local and regional communities. The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary:

Electrical & Instrumentation Field Engineer reports to Lead E&I Field Engineer and is responsible for activities relating to construction engineering within the electrical and instrumentation and controls disciplines. Duties include interpreting electrical design drawings and specifications, cable installations and terminations, field verification of materials, and technical direction to field electrical and instrumentation personnel.In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. 

Major Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to the electrical and instrumentation discipline such as installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment and grounding, and DCS systems.
• Establish an electrical design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer, including agreement on electrical and instrumentation engineering deliverables and overall construction application configuration management.
• Responsible for quantity take-off, control, tracking, reporting and forecasting for electrical and instrumentation discipline.
• Specify the electrical criteria for construction of temporary construction facilities as required.
• Direct the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services and equipment including panels, motors and switchgear.
• Approve field requisitions as delegated by the Project Field Engineer.
• Review material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct electrical and instrumentation materials.
• Coordinate and monitor the interfaces for electrical and instrumentation data exchange to support the construction automation plan and the project controls program requirements at the jobsite.
• Develop and manage the electrical and instrumentation construction quality program.
• Direct preparation of cost estimates for electrical and instrumentation construction activities and coordinate the preparation of cost reports, forecast and progress reports.
• Coordinate with Field Supervision and Subcontractors to plan/support construction schedules.
• Plan and recommend electrical and instrumentation procedures to be implemented by Field Supervision to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Intermediate understanding of production management including scheduling.
• Intermediate communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.
• Previous supervisory experience within electrical discipline.
