Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Product Biology Team is seeking a Field Scientist in Plattsville, ON, Canada. This role will support the delivery of high-quality field bioefficacy data generation to support the development and registration of crop protection products across key Canadian markets. The Field Scientist analyzes trial results and produces scientific reports and regulatory value summaries that inform business and product decisions. Additionally, the role drives innovation by integrating new tools, digital technologies, and precision application methods to deliver advanced crop protection solutions.

Accountabilities:

  • Execute crop protection field trials, such as planting, maintenance, chemical applications, and harvest activities  
  • Collect and manage trial data using digital and precision ag tools, ensuring timely and accurate data entry for analysis and registration  
  • Lead biological field development activities, ensuring high-quality trial execution and delivery of results  
  •  Recruit, train, and supervise seasonal students to support field operations  
  • Prepare and communicate scientific reports, data summaries, and regulatory (Part 10) submissions  
  • Build external partnerships and follow all safety and compliance standards to support a safe, collaborative work environment 

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in crop science or a related field preferred  
  • 2–3 years of experience managing crop protection field trials or research programs  
  • Strong understanding of local cropping practices, pests, and agronomy  
  • Experience with pesticide application and ability to obtain an applicator license  
  • Comfortable operating field equipment (e.g., tractors, sprayers, small-plot combines) is an asset  
  • Experience with data analysis, trial design, and familiarity with product registration (PRD) is a plus  
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external partners

The annual base salary for this position is CAD $77,000-$86,000.  This range reflects market rates and is ultimately determined by several factors including the candidate’s skill, experience, and relevant education.
