About the Role

We are currently seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our New Zealand team, based in Horotiu (Waikato), supporting customers nationwide.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, you may be required to work overtime, particularly during peak (winter) months, and participate in an on-call roster for after-hours breakdown support (including occasional weekend work).

The role involves regular domestic travel to customer sites across New Zealand.

As a Field Service Engineer at GEA, you will play a key role in ensuring the performance and reliability of customer equipment. You will carry out maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work both on-site and in our Horotiu workshop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned maintenance, inspections, and overhauls on GEA equipment
  • Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs on mechanical systems
  • Support major plant shutdowns and service campaigns across NZ
  • Work on equipment including separators, decanters, homogenisers, pumps, and rotating machinery
  • Complete service reports and provide recommendations
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with site requirements

    About You

    Skills & Experience

    • Relevant mechanical trade qualification (or equivalent experience)
    • Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience in a mechanical or industrial maintenance environment
    • Strong mechanical fault-finding ability
    • Experience working with centrifuges, separators, or homogenisers
    • Knowledge of pneumatics, and rotating equipment
    • Ability to work independently on customer sites
    • Full driver’s licence
    • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide

    Highly Desirable

    • Background in the dairy, food, or process industries
    • Exposure to shutdown work and large-scale maintenance projects
