Watercare is seeking a Financial Asset Accountant in Newmarket to lead the financial management and reporting of its infrastructure assets. You’ll manage fixed asset accounting such as capitalisations, disposals, depreciation and impairment, maintain the asset register and WIP, oversee asset revaluations with external valuers, support budgeting and forecasting, prepare asset disclosures, and partner with auditors and project teams to ensure timely capitalisation and policy compliance. The ideal candidate has a degree in Accounting or Finance, CA/CPA or equivalent, 3-5 years in a large organisation with fixed asset or infrastructure accounting, ERP experience, advanced Excel, and strong stakeholder communication. This is more than a traditional accounting role.
As our Financial Asset Accountant, you'll be responsible for the financial management and reporting of some of New Zealand's most significant infrastructure assets, including water and wastewater networks, treatment plants, land, buildings, pumps, and major capital projects.
You'll play a critical role in ensuring asset information is accurately recorded, capitalised and reported, while supporting investment decisions that help shape Auckland's future. Working closely with project managers, engineers, operational teams, valuers and auditors, you'll become a trusted advisor on asset accounting and capital investment.
