About The Position

One of our operating companies, Centrered, is looking for a Financial Controller to join their team in Canberra.

The Financial Controller will provide strategic input into the overall business direction, maintaining a keen focus on optimising finance processes through AI and automation to enhance operational efficiency whilst ensuring commercial outcomes throughout the business.

 

You will work closely with the private equity team, acting as a trusted business partner and play a central role in leading one-on-one meetings and overseeing professional development planning for your direct reports. In doing so, you will cultivate a culture of growth, accountability and continuous improvement within the finance team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Owning the end-to-end finance function, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and general ledger management
  • Lead EOS principles within the business
  • Preparing and analysing monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and variance analysis
  • Supporting the month-end close process and ensuring accuracy of all financial data
  • Preparing and maintaining budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections
  • Providing clear financial insights and commentary to support business performance and decision-making
  • Assisting with compliance activities, including audit preparation and tax submissions
  • Partnering with operational and commercial teams to analyse costs, pricing and margins
  • Supporting tender and pricing analysis to inform commercial decisions
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve reporting accuracy
  • Supporting system improvements and assisting with financial system migrations or upgrades
  • Developing and monitoring key performance indicators and financial metrics
  • Assisting in the preparation of statutory accounts and liaising with external accountants as required
  • Contributing to business improvement initiatives, process controls and financial governance frameworks

 

Skills required

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience, preferably in a fast paced environment
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic finance and commercial business partnering
  • CA or equivalent
  • Business Central experience is desirable
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
