The Financial Controller will support VP Finance in managing the organization’s financial operations. This individual will oversee daily accounting activities, prepare and analyze financial statements, and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations. They will be responsible for process improvements, financial analysis, and supervising accounting staff.  

Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop, and manage a multi-layered, high-performing finance team to establish a best-in-class function as we scale.
• Assist the VP Finance with monthly financial close process including general ledger management and balance sheet reconciliations
• Act as a key point of contact for the external auditors during the year end process and ensure any recommendations are implemented in a timely fashion.
• Ensure compliance with local GAAP and other relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Review changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices, and assess their impact on the organization
• Assist with M&A activity including due diligence and post-acquisition integration
• Collaborate with the tax team and tax advisors on all tax related matters, ensuring international tax compliance and providing general tax guidance to management where necessary
• Lead the preparation and submission of the annual R&D tax credit claim
• Drive a culture of process improvements, efficiency and cost control within the finance function and across the business
•  Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business operations, as requested
•  Ensure Company policies and procedures are established, updated, and followed in accordance with GAAP
• Deliver timely, accurate and complete financial statements on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA) with 3+ years' experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role within a high-growth, fast-paced environment
• Experience in SaaS or tech scale-ups is strongly preferred; exposure to IPO readiness or listed environments is a plus
•  In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Experience leading and managing teams of 3 or more direct reports
• Experience with MS Office (Word and Excel) and ERP experience (NetSuite preferred)
•  Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and manage a high-performing team
•  Proficient computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Google suites
•  Excellent time management and organization skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and deliver high quality work to deadlines
• Self-motivated and proactive - requiring little supervisory input on a daily basis
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
•  Critical thinking and ability to foresee potential obstacles and consider alternative approaches
• Experience using NetSuite or equivalent ERP a plus
• Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
