Tips for Your Application
Lead your resume with your most relevant qualifications and experience, especially your degree field and any CA progress or registration, plus your experience building dashboards and reports in Power BI and Excel. Show how you’ve turned data into actionable insights that influenced decisions in a large or complex environment. Keep examples concrete and include brief outcomes or metrics where possible. Be ready to discuss how you gather information from multiple teams, how you handle reporting queries, and how you maintain accuracy under tight deadlines. End with a concise question about how the team measures success for this role or the organisation’s data governance plans.
When you prepare for interviews, bring examples of dashboards you’ve built, a short case where you identified a key driver of performance, and a story about how you automated a reporting process. Have a clear explanation of how you translate financials into practical messages for non-finance stakeholders. For your resume, place your degree and CA-related qualifications up front, followed by your experience with Power BI and Excel, and then your experience delivering integrated reporting and performance insights.
One smart question to ask is how the council envisions the Financial Insights Analyst’s role evolving with ongoing data modernization and how success is measured for dashboards and reports across the organisation.
