Ongoing business growth has created an opportunity for a Fire Alarm Apprentice to join our well‑established and supportive Palmerston North team.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Provide a high level of service to our customers.

  • Work closely with internal mentors, supervisors, and external trainers to develop your fire protection skills and competencies.

  • Support the team through the completion of key tasks and additional duties as required.

What You Will Do

  • Follow safe work practices in accordance with Company Health & Safety Guidelines.

  • Report any workplace safety hazards to the Service Supervisor or Branch Manager.

  • Take initiative to achieve training goals and deliver excellent customer service.

  • Complete internal and external training to achieve NZQA Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in Fixed Fire Protection Systems (Alarms).

  • Follow directions from the Branch Manager, Service Supervisor, or supervising Technicians.

  • Participate in additional fire protection training as agreed with the Branch Manager.

  • Maintain awareness of company products and services to identify potential opportunities for clients.

  • Deliver work efficiently while making full use of company resources and exceeding customer expectations.

  • Ensure all company property in your care — including tools, plant, equipment, and materials — is kept in safe, efficient condition.

  • Use company IT systems, applications, and devices in line with company and client requirements.

  • Attend meetings as required.

  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, servicing, and testing of fire alarm systems under supervision.

  • Represent the company on-site in a professional, courteous manner.

  • Carry out any additional duties reasonably requested by the business.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong desire to learn, grow, and build technical competency

  • Attention to detail

  • Good time management skills

  • Full driver’s licence, or a commitment to obtaining one
