West Wave Auckland Council is hiring fixed term Lifeguard Team Members (part time and full time) until 30 June 2027, with a living wage and free access to our pools, sauna and spas. You’ll protect and serve by providing proactive supervision, enforcing pool rules, delivering first aid, and creating a welcoming, safe environment for customers across varied shifts, including weekends. Essential are strong swimming abilities, teamwork, and customer focus; a current First Aid Certificate and PLPC are required, with free training available. You must pass a 200m swim in under 6 minutes test and complete PLPC training 28 Sept to 9 Oct. We are looking for strong swimmers of all ages, who are dedicated to helping others and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment. As a team member, you’ll need to stay alert, work well in a team, and provide excellent customer service.
You wil be an enthusiastic team player, you’ll have a positive attitude and infectious energy and be committed to providing your customers with an exceptional experience.
You will also need to have a current First Aid Certificate and Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC), and if you do not have them, we can provide training for you for FREE!
However, you will need to pass this swim test:
Moreover, you will need to attend the PLPC training from 28 Sept - 9 October, Monday to Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm, at West Wave and Auckland CBD.
