Cordis Auckland, part of Langham Hospitality Group and owned by Great Eagle Group, is seeking a Food & Beverage Supervisor for In Room Dining. This award-winning luxury hotel sits in Auckland’s arts and culture district and offers 642 guest rooms along with 20 flexible meeting spaces. It’s a well-established part of the city’s landscape and was recognised as New Zealand’s Leading Hotel at the World Travel Awards 2024. The role is full-time and onsite, and you must already have work rights in New Zealand to be considered.

The position is about more than delivering meals; it’s about shaping a guest’s entire in-room dining experience. The supervisor leads from the front, coordinating shift activity, collaborating with the kitchen and other hotel colleagues to ensure orders are accurate, well presented and delivered promptly. This is ideal for someone who enjoys guiding a team, maintaining high standards, and driving guest satisfaction in a luxury setting.

If you’re drawn to personalised service, precise timing, and discretion, you’re likely to fit in well with Cordis Auckland’s In Room Dining team.

Caring for guests, one tray at a time

You’ll oversee the daily In Room Dining operation, run pre-service briefings and allocate duties to the team. You’ll ensure orders are correctly taken and entered into the POS system, and you’ll work closely with the kitchen to keep quality and delivery times on track. You’ll also oversee how trays, tables, trolleys and guest amenities are presented, and you’ll make sure dietary restrictions and special requests are communicated clearly to the team.

Beyond the specifics of service, you’ll monitor service standards and guest-room delivery etiquette, addressing any guest concerns promptly and professionally. Coaching and mentoring your colleagues will be part of your day, along with encouraging product knowledge and upselling. You’ll support stock control, ordering and other administrative tasks, and you’ll handle opening, closing and cash-handling procedures while upholding HACCP, food safety and hotel standards.

What we’re looking for in a leader

You’ll be an organised, service-driven hospitality professional who understands that In Room Dining is about more than just delivering food. Timing, presentation, discretion and personalised service are all part of the role.

  • Experience in In Room Dining, room service or hotel food and beverage roles, with a track record in frontline leadership
  • Prior supervisory or team-leadership experience
  • Solid knowledge of food, beverage, and menu details
  • Confidence in guiding, motivating and coaching colleagues
  • Strong communication skills and a knack for guest service
  • Excellent attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to stay calm and make decisions under pressure
  • Understanding of food safety and HACCP requirements
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster over 7 days, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays

Perks and practical details

You’ll be on a rotating roster over seven days, covering early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays. The package includes dining and accommodation discounts, free nights at overseas hotels, staff meals provided, discounted parking ($6 per day), a $200 dry-cleaning allowance every month, Milestone Service benefits, and opportunities to grow your career within Langham Hospitality Group. You’ll be proud to work at New Zealand’s largest hotel, joining a team that values detailed, personalised service.

Tips for applying

Front-load your resume with In Room Dining leadership and a solid hotel F&B background, making sure your supervisory experience is easy to spot and clearly demonstrates your impact on guest satisfaction.

Use concrete examples to prove the must-have skills: describe a shift where you led pre-service briefings, managed dietary notes, coordinated with the kitchen to hit a tight deadline, and trained a teammate in upselling techniques.

Be ready to talk through scenarios the interviewer might ask about, such as handling a guest concern in a busy service window or maintaining service standards when orders pile up. Explain how you stay calm, communicate clearly and keep teams motivated under pressure.

Ask a targeted question that shows you’re thinking about long-term growth, for example: how cross-department collaboration within Cordis Auckland supports career progression, or what upskilling opportunities exist for In Room Dining professionals within Langham Hospitality Group.
