mimic robotics AG is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer in Zürich onsite to apply our AI recipes to new customer tasks and lead projects from pilot to production. You’ll translate needs into scalable AI solutions, support deployments on site, guide customers, contribute to our codebases, and drive fast iteration while coordinating with AI robotics and product teams. Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, AI, robotics or a related field plus practical AI deployment experience in production is expected; strong Python and PyTorch, excellent English (German a plus), willingness to travel and a valid driving license B are required. Nice to have ROS/ROS2 or industry experience. Compensation includes base salary, stock options, flat hierarchies, and founder access. To apply, tailor your CV to show deployments, quantify impact, and demonstrate turning requirements into scalable solutions.

mimic is an early stage deep tech robotics & AI start-up based in Zurich and supported by leading VCs. We give industry workers a helping hand for tedious manual labour tasks and mitigate labour shortages with a versatile automation platform. Our automation solutions, driven by dexterous robotic hands and cutting edge AI trained on human observations, bring a new level of AI embodiment to the real world.
As an Applied AI / Forward Deployed Engineer you will apply our AI recipes to new customer tasks and lead the technical project management. You will closely work with our robotics and AI team to achieve robust operation on site. You will act as the primary technical interface to the customer, translating real-world operational requirements into scalable AI solutions and ensuring successful deployment from pilot to production.
Responsibilities
  • Apply and adapt our existing AI recipes (data, training, evaluation, deployment configs) to new customer tasks and environments
  • Support on-site deployments and work closely with our clients in a wide range of fields
  • Provide technical support and guidance to our customers
  • Contribute to our codebases in robotics and AI for customer-specific solutions
  • Drive fast iteration loops: diagnose failures, propose fixes, coordinate experiments, and validate improvements
  • Coordinate across internal teams (AI, robotics, product) and the customer to unblock execution and keep timelines on track
  • Define and track KPIs (robustness, success rate, cycle time, uptime), and report progress transparently to stakeholders

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Robotics, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Relevant experience applying AI/ML systems in real-world environments (e.g. deploying models, running experiments, working with production data)
  • Strong proficiency in Python; experience working with modern ML frameworks (Pytorch, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus)
  • Willingness to travel for on-site deployments and customer support
  • Driving License (B)

Nice to have
  • Familiarity with robotics, ROS/ROS2 systems, or deploying AI models on real robotic hardware
  • Experience working directly with industrial customers (e.g. automotive, logistics, manufacturing) and operating in production environments

Compensation & Benefits
  • We offer a total compensation package including a competitive yearly base salary and a strong stock option package to make you part of our shared success.
  • You will work with the founders from day one, shaping the company and participating in its success from its very beginning

You will have the opportunity to shape a robotics & AI company from the ground up. In flat hierarchies you will work directly with the founders and some of the best talents in the robotics space. At mimic, you are accepted for who you are. As part of our ongoing journey towards creating a diverse and inclusive environment we encourage everyone to apply and we are looking forward to you bringing along your knowledge, personal experiences, and fresh perspectives. Together we can solve some of the greatest challenges in robotics.
