The Role
This position focuses on early stage fraud detection, reviewing suspicious cases and identifying red flags across customer and transaction data. You’ll support investigations, document findings in line with internal and regulatory standards, and coordinate with internal teams and law enforcement when needed. The role also involves maintaining accurate case logs and evidence records to support audits and reporting.
Responsibilities
Fraud Investigation & Mitigation
Perform early-stage review and investigation of suspected fraud cases received from internal teams, partners, banks, merchants, customers, and third-party vendors.
Execute first-level fraud operations activities including case intake, data gathering, and escalation of suspicious activities to Fraud Analysts or Compliance teams as appropriate.
Review customer applications, transaction behavior, documents, and supporting evidence to identify red flags, inconsistencies, forgery, impersonation, or misuse.
Support investigations and conduct initial fact finding across reported and system-generated alerts to establish facts.
Regulatory Compliance
Assist in the preparation of internal escalation form in line with internal policies.
Ensure all investigations are documented in accordance with internal SOPs, audit standards, and regulatory requirements.
Work closely with Operations, Customer Support, and external law-enforcement agencies on fraud matters.
Support responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and internal reviews related to fraud cases.
As part of the Compliance function, support licensing requirements, AML/KYC obligations, consumer duty requirements, and the review of regulatory disclosures, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations.
Management Information & Data Analysis
Maintain accurate case registers, investigation logs, and evidence repositories.
Your Profile
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience within a Compliance, Fraud, Financial Crime, or Risk function.
Work on a 5-day working week with rotational weekend shift availability to ensure continuous monitoring coverage
Exposure to fraud investigations, transaction monitoring, card or payment fraud, or financial crime operations is strongly preferred.
Good attention to detail and ability to follow defined procedures, identify anomalies, and escalate concerns appropriately
Prior experience in a bank, fintech, payments, or regulated financial services environment is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex scenarios and large data sets.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (filters, pivots, lookups, data analysis, reporting).
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Certifications (Preferred, Not Mandatory)
Professional certifications are an advantage, including:
CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist), ICA Certifications, CAMI / GoAML / related financial crime programs.
