Job Overview:

Thermal System Design Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the gas turbine component thermal analysis, secondary air system and oil system design & analysis activities within the turbojet & turbofan development programs. This role requires expert knowledge in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, gas turbine propulsion, planning for projects and ability to develop individuals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out component thermal analysis simulations for thermal mapping of the engine
  • Carry out steady and transient thermal & secondary flows assessment in gas turbine engine components
  • Carry out sizing and design studies for the oil / lubrication system, seals, sump, bearings & pumps.
  • Develop numerical and experimental methods for method verification and validation
  • Support other team members, develop junior engineers and provide constructive feedback
  • Review the designs, simulations and generate testing guidelines
  • Identify project risks and plan for mitigation

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering degree or a related field.
  • Strong background in gas turbine propulsion, heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience: 5-15 years or more.

 

Skills:

  • Technical skills in one or a combination of stated topics.
  • Using commercial tools such as Ansys Workbench or similar.
  • Experience in FEA, CFD or lower order simulation methods.
  • Experience in 1D flow network software such as Flomaster and Amesim
  • Experience in programming using C, Matlab/Simulink or similar.
  • Awareness on the state-of-the-art technologies in materials, aerodynamics and structural mechanics to link with thermal system design for gas turbine propulsion
  • Good communication and presentation skills to interact with team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to solve problems, prioritize tasks and delegate when necessary
