Canadian Natural Resources is hiring a four month Government Relations Student for their Calgary head office, offering full-time onsite work five days on, two off with an eight hour day, starting in May 2027. As the Government Relations Student, you will work with teams throughout our organization to ensure that government relations deliverables are carried out successfully. You can contribute to the success of Canadian Natural’s operations as the position plays an important part in Canadian Natural’s efforts to engage and advocate on important regulatory and public policy issues. 

  • Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
  • Term length: 4 months
  • Term start: May 2027

Key Accountabilities:

  • Review and research public policy, regulatory and legislative issues which may impact Canadian Natural’s operations 
  • Help identify and evaluate advocacy and engagement opportunities that fit within Canadian Natural’s government relations strategy
  • Work with the internal regulatory team to identify and highlight policy and regulatory initiatives which may impact Canadian Natural
  • Develop materials to assist with advocacy and engagement
  • Update and maintain the Government Relations files
  • Research and prepare memos and other briefing notes detailing policy or other government regulation or legislation
  • Support the team with preparing advocacy materials, including PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, and word documents, and providing vacation coverage

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program with a specific focus on Public Policy, Political Science or related disciplines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Interest in public policy and understanding of current events 
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills 
  • Professional judgment with the ability to collaborate effectively
