Washmen is seeking a Growth Lead with a sharp retention focus to own lifecycle initiatives as an hands-on individual contributor just below the Growth Director. You will design and execute multi-channel retention campaigns, from onboarding to win-back, set up marketing automation, run experiments, and partner with Product, Data and Marketing to lift churn and lifetime value. Proficiency in SQL, strong marketing automation experience (Braze, CleverTap, Customer.io), and in depth analytics are essential, as is a proven track record of autonomous delivery in on-demand or subscription models. Position OverviewWe are seeking a high-performing Growth Lead to drive customer retention and lifecycle initiatives. This hands-on individual contributor role sits one level below the Growth Director and focuses on executing retention strategies, running experiments, and directly contributing to customer lifetime value growth.You'll work closely with the Growth Director to implement the retention roadmap and collaborate cross-functionally to drive measurable business impact.
Core Responsibilities
Hands-On Campaign Execution & OptimizationThis is a player role - you'll personally execute retention campaigns from start to finishDesign and build customer lifecycle campaigns including onboarding, activation, and win-back flowsWork with copy team for campaign messaging, design email sequences, and create in-app messaging flowsSet up and configure marketing automation workflows in CRM platformsLaunch campaigns, monitor real-time performance, and make adjustments to improve resultsTroubleshoot technical issues with campaign delivery and tracking independentlyManage multi-channel retention campaigns across email, SMS, push, and in-appMaintain campaign calendars and ensure proper sequencing of communicationsDocument campaign performance and create post-mortems with learnings
Retention Strategy & ExperimentationLead retention-focused experiments across all channels to improve key metricsDesign and execute A/B tests with hypothesis-driven test plansAnalyze results, determine winners, and implement learnings into production campaignsOptimize customer segmentation strategies for personalized retention effortsTest messaging, timing, and channel combinations to maximize engagementBuild and manage re-engagement campaigns for at-risk customer segmentsContribute ideas to the overall retention strategy and roadmap
Data Analysis & InsightsPersonally write SQL queries to pull and analyze customer behavior dataMonitor key retention metrics: churn rate, repeat purchase rate, and customer lifetime valueBuild dashboards and reports to track campaign performance and retention trendsConduct cohort analysis to identify patterns in customer retention and churnAnalyze customer journey data to identify drop-off points and opportunitiesPresent findings and recommendations to the Growth Director and cross-functional teamsUse data to prioritize retention initiatives and track ROI
Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with CRM Lead to execute campaigns aligned with brand guidelinesWork with Data Analysts to access customer data and build segmentsCollaborate with Product teams to understand user behavior and feature adoptionSupport Customer Success initiatives with targeted retention communicationsCoordinate with Marketing and Operations teams on messaging consistency and service deliveryShare learnings and best practices across the broader growth organization
Required Qualification
Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field6-10 years of experience in growth marketing, retention marketing, or lifecycle marketingProven track record of executing successful retention campaigns that improved key metricsExperience with on-demand services, marketplace, or subscription-based business models preferredDemonstrated ability to work autonomously and drive projects to completion
Technical SkillsStrong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysisHands-on experience with marketing automation platforms (Braze, CleverTap, Customer.io, or similar)Working knowledge of analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude)Experience with A/B testing platforms and statistical analysisProficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for data analysis and reportingComfortable with customer segmentation and cohort analysis techniquesBasic understanding of APIs and data integration concepts
