NZSki is hiring a Guest Services Assistant to join the Coronet Peak, The Remarkables or Mt Hutt team for 2025, starting 4 June with online learning and finishing by the end of September if snow allows. Our Guest Services team is usually the first point of contact for guests visiting Coronet Peak/The Remarkables or our Snow centre. Our aim is to make Guest Services the easiest part of their day and get them out on snow as soon as possible.
You'll be able to share your passion for the mountains by finding the best products to suit the individual needs of guests, with your extensive knowledge of our products, packages, rentals, snowsports lessons, transport and all that happens on and off mountain. Your challenge as part of the GS team is to focus on the person in front of you, no matter how big the queue behind them or what time of day it is.
In order to succeed within Team GS you need to be fun loving, enjoy helping out your team mates, love sharing your passion with our customers, and be able to balance your cash till at the end of a long day
The start date is 4 June 2025 with a small amount of online learning from home beforehand. The season-end dates depend on the snow, though we ask for a commitment through to the end of September.
Each mountain has slightly different hours of operation:
• The Remarkables is open from 9am - 4pm and shifts are between 7am-5pm.
• Coronet Peak is open from 8am to 4pm, and to 9pm on night ski days (Wednesdays, Fridays and some Saturdays) and shifts are between 7am-9pm.
• Both locations have a mix of full day and half day shifts.
About the role
• Meeting and greeting all guests to the ski area.
• Processing sales as well as all other guest enquiries (i.e. managing bookings, rescheduling lessons/transport etc.)
• Finding opportunities to improve our customer’s experience through recommendations you are providing
• Supporting the Guest Service Reservations Team with customer enquiries via email and phone during busier times
• Operating our Point of Sale and Guest Database systems.
• Be a source of knowledge for guests by having an understanding of all products, other departments, events, promotions and key dates.
• Handling lost property
About You
• Front line customer service experience with a proven commitment to the guest service experience
• Previous experience using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Previous experience with computing systems in customer service or the tourism/hospitality industry
• An interest in learning about ski industry products and pricing (full training will be given)
• Willingness and flexibility to assist other departments as and when required, including Retail, Food & Beverage and Lifts.
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• An understanding that employment is subject to the vagaries of the weather and the hours of work cannot be guaranteed
