Position Overview

Tilcon Connecticut, a CRH company, has an immediate opening for an experienced Haul Truck Driver at our North Branford Quarry on 2nd shift. This position plays a key role in supporting daily quarry operations and requires the ability to work safely and collaboratively in a team-oriented production environment.

This position reports directly to the Quarry Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment including haul trucks
  • Perform daily pre- and post-operational equipment inspections with proper documentation
  • Complete minor servicing and preventative maintenance on equipment as needed
  • Maintain continuous visual communication with co-workers when backing or maneuvering equipment
  • Strictly adhere to all MSHA, OSHA, and company safety procedures
  • Follow direction from supervisors to complete daily production tasks
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or hazards in a timely manner
  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and visitors
  • Work overtime, travel, or work away from home as required
  • Perform work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas
  • Assist team members and perform additional duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years of construction or related experience
  • Experience operating dump trucks, haul trucks, or similar heavy equipment in a quarry or aggregate environment

Work Requirements

  • Valid CDL Class A license required
  • Ability to pass:
    • Pre-employment drug screen
    • Criminal background check
    • “Fit for Work” physical

Physical Requirements

 

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands, reaching, and fine motor coordination
  • Ability to climb ladders and access elevated platforms as needed
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs
  • Must meet visual requirements including depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus

 

Work Environment

 

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment and active quarry operations
  • Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wet)
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, dust, and vibration
  • Team-based environment requiring coordination with co-workers and supervisors
