Reporting to the Manager, Athletics & Recreation, Trojans Head Coaches are responsible for the overall leadership, administration and development of their program. The objective of the head coach is to create a strong team culture that is in line with SAIT FIRST principles and promotes competitive success and personal growth.
The pursuit of ACAC & CCAA success is a driving force for our programs and should guide the program development created by our head coaches.
How you'll contribute
- Program Management
- Manage the administrative, financial & personnel requirements for the program
- Program plan includes recruitment, retention, finances, facility requirements, schedule & logistics
- Organize all team related activities along with support from Trojans admin & assigned sport coordinator
- Alongside Manager, Athletics & Rec, supervise & support coaching staff: selection, direction, delegation of responsibilities, evaluation of performance
- Coaching
- Create an environment that is aligned with SAIT FIRST principles and fosters holistic growth of student athletes & staff.
- Create a culture of excellence that motivates athletes & staff to strive for their best in all aspects of being a part of Trojans programming
- Conduct effective practices & training sessions that allow student-athletes to improve, while providing enough time for academics & generalized success as a student-athlete
- Work directly with Head Athletic Therapist to ensure YTP is conducive to injury prevention & peak health throughout the season
- Administration
- Adhere to all Trojans & specific league requirements regarding athlete onboarding each season
- Adhere to SAIT policies, procedures and protocols including p-card purchasing, webtime entry, mandatory SafeSport training facility access controls, ID card presentations, brand alignment and respectful workplace related expectations
- Team scheduling, planning and structuring including communications
- Submit required documentation in a timely fashion
- Submit compliance related formalities in a progressive fashion

What you bring
- Education
- High School Diploma (Minimum Required)
- Advanced Coaching Certification (Preferred)
- Experience
- Previous Competitive Club and/or Post-Secondary Head Coaching Experience (Minimum Required)
- 5 years of coaching at the Post-Secondary level (Preferred)
- Qualifications, Certifications or Designations
- NCCP Community or Instruction Level Trained (Minimum Required)
- NCCP Competition Level Trained (Preferred)
- Skills Required
