We are seeking a Managing Director within Financing Solutions (FS) to lead senior client engagement, product development partnership, and revenue growth across Australia’s largest Superannuation funds. This role combines high‑touch Sales & Client Management responsibilities with strategic leadership across the development and commercialization of our Directed Lending and Agency Lending capabilities in Asia‑Pacific.
The ideal candidate brings deep Superannuation relationships, strong technical fluency across Agency Lending, Repo, and collateral markets, and the ability to partner closely with IS, Product, and Trading to shape and deliver a differentiated FS offering for State Street in Australia and the broader region.
This is a senior, market‑facing MD role, distinct from product specialist or regional execution roles, and is expected to act as a bridge between clients, FS Product, and IS, driving the evolution of our Directed Lending platform and our market position in the Superannuation segment

Serve as a senior point of accountability for our largest clients
Lead our Directed Lending commercial agenda, leveraging global partners and APAC FS leadership.
Strengthen State Street’s position vs major competitors
Play a pivotal role in the rollout and adoption of the Directed Lending product as it moves through approval and launch cycles (per ongoing NBPRA / global committee workstreams).

What you will be responsible for
1. Senior Client Coverage – Superannuation Funds
Lead strategic coverage of Tier 1 supers, managing executive‑level relationships and ensuring exceptional service across all FS products.
Drive Agency Lending and Repo discussions, balancing near‑term revenue opportunities with long‑term strategic positioning.
Partner with IS Client Executives and local leadership to present a unified, cohesive State Street value proposition to top supers.
2. Directed Lending Leadership (APAC)
Act as the regional commercial lead for Directed Lending, helping shape product functionality and client‑facing positioning.
Translate client requirements (collateral types, margin parameters, term flexibility, operational requirements) into clear product development feedback for global FS Product and Trading.
Evangelize the Directed Lending story regionally and globally—ensuring alignment across Risk, Legal, Trading, and IS.
3. Cross‑Product Sales & CM Execution
Develop and deliver holistic Financing Solutions pitches across Agency, Repo, Prime, and collateral efficiency solutions.
Build pipelines, execute strategic growth plans, and meet defined financial and productivity targets.
Drive coordination across APAC FS teams to ensure consistent messaging, prioritization, and multi‑market deal execution.
4. Internal Leadership & Thought Leadership
Provide senior leadership presence in the Australian market, supporting the broader FS franchise.
Represent FS at industry events, State Street forums, and client strategy sessions.
Contribute to market strategy, competitive analysis, and long‑term planning for FS in Australia and Asia.
What we value
Deep knowledge of Superannuation ecosystem, including custody models, lending structures, directed‑trade dynamics, and market nuances.
Demonstrated ability to bridge clients and product, translating complex market needs into scalable offerings.
Proven track record of commercial leadership, influencing across multiple stakeholders and geographies.
Strong understanding of Agency Lending and Repo markets.
Ability to articulate State Street’s differentiated FS strategy relative to competitors.
Exceptional communication, executive presence, and relationship‑building skills.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
MBA, CFA, or equivalent preferred.
10–15+ years within Securities Finance, Collateral Markets, Prime Financing, or adjacent institutional markets.
Extensive client‑facing experience with Superannuation funds or large institutional asset owners.
Experience collaborating across global product, trading, and risk teams.
Strong familiarity with APAC funding markets; experience across multiple regions a plus.
Additional requirements
Role is based in Sydney.
Periodic travel across APAC expected.
