The Head of Sport Marketing leads the national Sport Marketing function, driving Red Bull’s presence across the sport, motorsport, gaming, and fitness landscapes. The role designs the multi-year sport strategy, adapts global direction to local needs, manages the athlete and event portfolios, and ensures all sport initiatives deliver brand impact, business value, and premium, innovative execution.
You’ll partner closely with the Media Network, Brand and Sales teams to ensure our sports function is delivering towards cross functional goals and creating business impact.
Job Description
DELIVER A LOCALLY RELEVANT NATIONAL SPORT STRATEGY
- Design and implement a clear, balanced national Sport Marketing strategy across core sports, mainstream sports, motorsports, gaming, fitness, and other country relevant playgrounds.
- Ensure a balanced sports plan across core playgrounds, staying ahead in key Australian areas and present in the country’s most played and watched sports.
- Translate global strategy and flagship concepts into locally relevant initiatives; identify whitespace opportunities to grow consumer engagement.
- Partner with state and regional teams to develop ideas that resonate locally and foster innovation in their teams and regions.
- Build and maintain a strong network with sport communities, athletes, federations, event partners, venues, and opinion leaders.
EMPOWER AN INNOVATIVE EVENT PROGRAM
- Develop innovative national event programmes, including Red Bull-owned events, gaming activations, motorsport projects, branded event assets and third-party partnerships.
- Ensure all events adhere to Red Bull’s principles: premium execution, strong branding, credible product integration, a smooth consumer journey and robust post-event evaluation.
- Support the team in decision-making on venue selection, agency partnerships, production partners and suppliers, ensuring delivery is on time, on budget and fully compliant.
- Ensure our gaming programme leverages key titles, builds strong publisher relationships and creates assets and formats that position Red Bull as the leading beverage for gamers.
- Take a future-focused approach, with a long-range plan for major events, based in regions where we need to win and meet the needs of consumers within that region.
ATHLETE, PLAYER & TEAM SPORTS PROGRAM LEADERSHIP
- Support scouting and selection of athletes, teams and esports players with strong brand fit, product relevance and long-term potential.
- Oversee athlete relationships, contracts, performance support, marketing activity and 360° activation to ensure they drive business goals and are commercially sound and benchmarked.
- Support the Motorsports team in leveraging local and global partnerships across the business, including commercial reviews and managing relationships and partnerships at both local and global levels.
- Grow the reach of top athletes through national hero strategies and 360° activations that support their dreams and build national relevance.
- Develop partnerships with leagues, key competitions and strategic stakeholders, securing unique Red Bull angles and impactful product integrations.
BRAND BUILDING, CONTENT & COMMERICAL INTEGRATION
- Identify compelling stories around athletes, events and projects to feed Red Bull Media Network and local channels.
- Ensure sport initiatives reinforce Red Bull’s positioning as a credible functional beverage and support commercial goals.
- Integrate sport activity with Brand, Field and Culture Marketing, as well as Sales and Key Accounts.
- Drive commercial partnerships, VIK opportunities, co-marketing programmes and partnership amplification to support project delivery and extend reach and impact.
INSPIRATIONAL PEOPLE LEADERSHIP
- Lead, coach and develop the Sport Marketing team, and manage external specialists, freelancers and agencies to drive high performance, innovative and creative thinking, staying at the forefront of industry and consumer trends in Australia.
- Be an active member of the Marketing Leadership Team, making strategic decisions and providing cross-functional guidance, coaching and support to ensure we have a plan to win and achieve our company mission.
- Provide annual goals, coaching on development plans, regular feedback and ongoing check-ins for all direct reports.
BUSINESS OPERATIONS & COMPLIANCE
- Own and manage the Sport Marketing budget, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and alignment with guidelines.
- Stay well informed and work closely with Legal and Regulatory teams on contracts and negotiations that protect the brand and ensure safe outcomes across all projects.
- Oversee forecasting, tracking tools (incl. SportsNet), reporting requirements and supplier management.
Qualifications
- 10+ year's experience in sports, events, agencies, media, federations, marketing or professional sport.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in people management
- Experience working with athletes, teams and sports communities
- Proven track record in managing complex multi-stakeholder projects
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills
