JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family centered model of care and, in accordance with Vancouver Coastal Health’s (VCH) values, “ We Care for Everyone, We are Always Learning, and We strive for Better Results”, the position promotes a safe and respectful working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff. The Housekeeping Aide performs a variety of cleaning duties such as but not limited to damp dusting; dry and wet mopping of floors; floor maintenance and refinishing using appropriate equipment; cleaning & disinfecting ceiling, wall, vent, washroom, bed, furniture and equipment; regular and biomedical waste collection and removal; spill clean-up; bed-making; and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility according to organizational policies, procedures and routines.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesPhysical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
